Sorrow has boundaries, while fear is boundless. For we mourn only for what we are certain has occurred, but we dread all that possibly could occur. - Pliny The Elder
The scene begins with
Lacy Lennon as she turns a bend and enters a graveyard.
She seems absolutely distraught. She pays her respects at several graves, her eyes brimming with tears as she views the tombstones of
Joanna Angel,
Katrina Jade, and Aaron Hands. As she murmurs a silent prayer, we are taken back to a year prior.
Lacy is at the wheel of her car while her boyfriend Aaron (
Small Hands) is co-pilot and Lacy's companions Joanna and Katrina are in the backseat. They are returning from an evening out. The women wish to continue the night's revelry at another local hotspot, but Aaron, disgruntled by the boisterous behavior of Joanna and Katrina, insists that Lacy drive him home.
The girls counter that Aaron lacks any sense of enjoyment as Lacy tries to persuade him to join them. The loud music and simultaneous conversations quickly escalate the tension in the car. As Lacy's attention strays from the road, disaster strikes.
The car is wrecked, everyone except Lacy, listlessly staring, their life-force drained. In the present day, Lacy is at home, tormented by sorrow and remorse. Suddenly, ethereal ghostly whispers begin to permeate her home. A candle is inexplicably extinguished.
Lacy attempts to sleep, but is awakened by a horrifying noise emanating from under her bed. Terrified, she investigates. To her horror, she discovers Aaron's necklace.
In her desperation for answers, Lacy returns to the graveyard. In her agitation, she flings the necklace onto the ground. Suddenly, a hand extends from the earth, from the abyss, clutching the necklace.
As Lacy lets out a terrified scream, two more hands burst from the soil and shortly after, Aaron, Katrina, and Joanna rise from their graves. Her friends have returned, but they are now something. different, and they have come for Lacy.
