Keira Croft, known as Mia, is a directionless young woman with lofty ambitions of making it big as an acclaimed actress. However, fortune hasn't favoured her yet, resulting in her renting a room from a man, marking a significant shift in her life. Today is the day she settles in.
Upon meeting her landlord,
Jessy Jones, who goes by the name Sebastian, they instantly click. He's courteous and considerate, with the only stipulation being that they respect each other's privacy by not entering each other's rooms. Despite finding the rule peculiar, Mia readily consents, understanding the importance of personal space.
As the days roll by, Mia grows increasingly disheartened due to the scarcity of job prospects. She feels ignored and clueless as to how to make a lasting impression. Adding to this, she starts noticing Sebastian's odd behaviour, particularly when he mentions going out on dates.
One fateful day, while doing laundry, Mia stumbles upon one of Sebastian's shirts mingled with her clothes. Ignoring the rule, she decides to quickly return the shirt to his room while he's out on a date. However, once inside, her curiosity about his strange behaviour and secrecy compels her to snoop around.
That's when she discovers a book. Overwhelmed by curiosity, she flips open the book, revealing Sebastian's penmanship. The more she reads, the more she is taken aback by the grotesque descriptions that conjure vivid, disturbing imagery in her mind.
Despite the horrifying content, she finds herself inexplicably captivated by it. The sinister messages etched on the pages resonate with her, sparking a newfound sense of determination, and she suddenly realises what she must do to etch her name in the annals of history.
