Making Up For Lost Time

Suzie (Hazel Moore) is unwinding in her room when her mother, Alice (Jamie Michelle), steps in for a chat. Alice mentions that she'll be away for two weeks on a business conference and wants Suzie to stay with Kevin (John Strong), Alice's former spouse and Suzie's stepdad. Suzie is receptive to the idea but also somewhat apprehensive, as she hasn't been around her stepdad for some time, and questions if he'll be agreeable to her presence. Alice puts her worries to rest, stating that Kevin is quite excited about Suzie staying at his place - Alice and Kevin's separation was due to clashing personalities, and Suzie was never the issue. Alice is certain they'll both enjoy their time together. A few days following, Kevin welcomes Suzie at his front door. Their initial interaction is slightly stiff but also cordial as they exchange greetings, and he takes her luggage and ushers her inside. He advises her to feel at ease, and that he'll take care of EVERYTHING. As Suzie moves past Kevin, he eyes her in a desirous manner, although she remains oblivious. A couple of days further, Suzie is lounging on the sofa when Kevin enters the room bearing two shopping bags. He expresses regret for accidentally damaging all her clothes in the laundry due to an overuse of bleach, BUT he has compensated by buying her new clothes. Suzie observes that the new attire is quite provocative, and cautiously remarks that those types of clothes aren't... typically her style. Kevin feigns embarrassment, apologizing and stating that he asked the shop assistant what girls her age might wear, and this was her suggestion. This elicits sympathy from Suzie, so she reassures him that it's the thought that matters, and tries on some of the clothes. Kevin compliments her appearance in the new attire, boosting her confidence. She admits that perhaps this style isn't so bad after all. Kevin smirks lasciviously, but Suzie doesn't pick up on it. Later that day, Kevin and Suzie plan to watch a movie together. However, Suzie is taken aback when Kevin proposes that she could sit on his lap. Suzie wonders if she's too old for such behavior. Kevin appears disappointed, saying he supposes she's right. He just regrets missing out on so many valuable moments with her, and wants to make amends for the lost time. Feeling sorry for him, Suzie consents to sit on his lap, unaware that this is a part of his ulterior motive...
