The Captain's Slot

Katie (Gabbie Carter) is huddled despondently on her bed, surrounded by crumpled tissues and discarded food packaging. She's been too downcast to attend school for the past few days, but today she has no option but to return. Opening her wardrobe to retrieve her school uniform, she becomes upset upon seeing her cheerleader outfit, suggesting her desolation is somehow tied to cheerleading.
Later, post-school, Katie spots her classmate Maria (Jane Wilde), donned in a cheerleading uniform. Katie's gaze narrows with scorn, leading her to tail Maria to her residence. Arriving at her home, Maria is taken aback by Katie's unexpected presence but arrogantly addresses Katie as 'ex-captain', inviting her in with a smug grin.
Their ensuing dialogue reveals that Katie was formerly the cheerleading squad captain, but was ousted after being exposed as a lesbian. The school's traditionalist staff didn't want a lesbian in the squad, and an untruthful gossip that Katie was peeping under the other cheerleaders' skirts led to her team's refusal to back her up. Katie accuses Maria, the new cheerleading captain, of being the one who revealed her secret and spread the dreadful rumor.
Additionally, Katie is certain that the only way Maria could have known about her sexuality is if Maria herself is also a lesbian. Unapologetically, Maria confesses to having exposed Katie, and taunts that Katie stands no chance of rejoining the squad. To Maria's astonishment, Katie clarifies that she harbors no desire to return to the squad.
Instead, what Katie truly yearns for is Maria's admission of her own lesbianism. She craves the personal gratification of knowing Maria is a hypocrite. Feeling triumphant, Maria confesses to Katie that she too is a lesbian.
However, to her disbelief, Katie starts to gloat, stating that Maria will have to conceal her sexuality for YEARS if she wishes to avoid expulsion from the squad like Katie experienced. This implies Maria won't be able to date or engage in sexual activities. On the other hand, Katie is free to express herself, now that everyone is aware of her lesbian identity.
That's why Katie does not seek vengeance. because the sweetest revenge is knowing that Maria sabotaged HERSELF. Struck by the truth of Katie's words, Maria looks momentarily distraught. Katie then gleefully proposes a pity sexual encounter to Maria, which she accepts.
After all, it's likely the last time Maria will be able to engage in such activities for a considerable period.
