Tara (portrayed by
Emma Jade) anticipates her boyfriend Steve's arrival to accompany her to the prom, and is taken aback when Steve's father, Mr. Nichols (played by
Charles Dera), shows up at her doorstep instead. Mr.
Nichols informs her that Steve has been delayed, and he has stepped in to fetch Tara. She accepts this justification, and joins Mr. Nichols in his vehicle.
As they travel, Mr. Nichols expresses his desire to utilize this solitary time to understand Tara better, particularly since her relationship with Steve has become more serious. Throughout their journey and conversation, Mr.
Nichols skillfully manages to invade Tara's private space. When Tara attempts to downplay the intensity of her relationship with Steve, Mr. Nichols discloses that he is aware they have booked a hotel room for the evening with the intent of making love.
Mr. Nichols questions whether Tara is 'taking measures' to prevent pregnancy. She affirms that she is, much to Mr.
Nichols' satisfaction. Mr. Nichols places his hand on Tara's knee, triggering her to express her uneasiness about him driving one-handed.
Mr. Nichols pulls the car over to a remote spot so they can converse more freely. Mr.
Nichols insinuates his desire to engage in sex with Tara, cunningly using his approval of her to manipulate the potential success of her relationship with Steve. Following some initial reluctance, Tara succumbs, and they engage in sexual activities both within and outside the car.
