The story begins on the open-air terrace of a secluded café. Becca (
Whitney Wright), a demure university student, sits in peace with a book when her companion arrives with two cups of coffee. Setting her book aside, they greet each other warmly and sit down to converse, enjoying their drinks and making casual conversation about their lives and upcoming semester plans.
Becca's phone vibrates suddenly. It's an alert from a matchmaking site she's joined, informing her of a new potential partner. Becca looks sheepish, but her friend motivates her to swipe and examine the man's profile.
After all, she expressed her desire to socialize more following her breakup, didn't she? Becca agrees. The man is attractive, mature, and has messaged her, inquiring if she would consider a threesome with him and his girlfriend. This idea makes Becca blush but her friend encourages her to respond.
'That app is trustworthy, I use it regularly!' she exclaims. 'What's the worst that could happen? You'll have an amusing anecdote to share?' Becca hesitates, seeking confirmation. Should she reply to him? The friend nods in agreement.
'Absolutely,' she replies, enjoying her coffee as the camera focuses on Becca's uncertain expression and the profile she is contemplating. CUT TO TITLE PLATE
Becca is reflected in the bathroom mirror, clad in her lingerie. She is gazing at herself, mentally preparing for her date when her phone vibrates once more.
The man she encountered on the app, Robert, has texted her personally. 'We're eager to meet you tonight!' She bites her lip before returning her gaze to her reflection in the mirror. A faint smirk appears on her face.
She is thrilled. Transition to Robert's residence. Becca knocks and nervously adjusts her appearance, when Robert (
Tommy Pistol) opens the door.
He is cool and welcoming, expressing how stunningly attractive she is and offering her his hand to guide her inside. The lounge has been adorned with candles, which he offers to her, and she accepts. They engage in brief conversation, mainly discussing their shared nervousness and anticipation.
This is a first for both of them. Becca is captivated by the gentle man and even permits herself to get closer to him, as they both begin to prepare for their coupling together. However, someone seems to be missing.
She casually inquires Robert about his girlfriend's whereabouts. 'Oh, she's just in the adjoining room,' he responds confidently. 'We were finalizing the dinner preparations.
Would you like to meet her?' Becca agrees and they rise to enter the other room, where a complete dinner has been prepared on an elegantly arranged dining table. A woman is seated rigidly at the table's end, her back facing Becca. Robert begins to rave about the wonderful meal they have prepared and how thrilled his girlfriend, Harper, is about their evening together while Becca stares at the woman's back.
A shiver runs down her spine. Why isn't the woman moving? She gradually turns to glance at the man whose hand is now lightly touching her back. 'Robert.
?' She begins to utter when, anxiously, the man pulls Becca fully into the room to introduce Harper. A silicone love doll, neatly dressed in a cocktail dress, has been positioned on a chair awaiting them. Becca's eyes widen, and her mouth falls open in shock, as she retreats from the table and the man's grip.
'What's the matter with you?' She exclaims, seizing her bag while he pursues her. Robert implores her to halt, to listen to him, to listen to them. Yes, theirs might be an unconventional relationship, but his affection for Harper surpasses just a plaything.
Since his real wife passed away years ago, she has been his sole source of solace. The only woman who wouldn't spurn him. It was her care and love that helped him regain the confidence to date again.
To try the app. It was her loyalty that made him feel complete again. Couldn't she at least try to be understanding? She seemed so open-minded during their chat.
Harper isn't just a doll, she is a genuine woman, albeit one made of silicone. If she would only stay and give it a try, she might even find the experience enjoyable. As Robert continues to speak, Becca backs up to the door, her mind whirling.
She manages to stammer 'No thank you. I'm not interested. Please refrain from contacting me again!' before fleeing into the night.
That night, as Becca lies in bed, she dreams that Harper is lying next to her. In her dream, she begins to stroke and kiss the silicone woman's body as the camera alternates between her fantasy and her tossing in her bed. Finally, she opens.
