To Catch a Cheater
SCENE BEGINS with the interior view of a vehicle, where a devoted husband, Joe, seated in the driver's seat, has just halted and activated his indicators. He casually rests his arm against the window sill, his marriage band evident on his rested hand, as he turns to gaze affectionately at his wife seated on the passenger's side. Vanessa (India Summer) has lowered the passenger sun visor and is enhancing her makeup using the visor mirror, but she shares a fleeting glance and smile with her husband as he turns to her.
Joe queries if she's certain she doesn't need him to accompany her further, he truly doesn't mind. Vanessa responds 'Oh, no, darling! That's so considerate, but you have extensive work to attend to. I'll be fine, it's just a short distance to walk from here.
' Vanessa finishes beautifying herself but remains engrossed in the mirror, primping her hair to perfection. In any case, she adds, she's uncertain about the duration of this meeting, so it's best he doesn't wait for her. He should utilize this time, enjoy a night out with his friends.
Joe expresses his disappointment, stating that his son, Danny, is visiting for dinner that evening. Vanessa expresses her regret, stating that she's upset to miss Danny again! Joe tries to console her by saying it's fine and that she'll have the opportunity to meet him on the next occasion. Joe leans in for an affectionate farewell kiss after wishing her a successful day, but she exits the vehicle without acknowledging him.
From a comprehensive perspective outside the passenger's side of the vehicle, we see Vanessa stepping out and shutting the door. Graceful and deliberate, she leisurely walks towards the camera. As the vehicle drives off, Vanessa looks back momentarily, then forward again, her gaze focused towards (or beyond) the camera.
With a soft smile, she continues her stride, and as she gets closer, we clearly see her extend her hand and remove her wedding band from her finger. CUT TO TITLE PLATE Vanessa arrives at a residential doorway and rings the bell. A young adolescent male (Dustin Daring) opens the door.
She gives him a quick once-over, and says 'You must be Danny,' before casually entering the house past him. He shuts the door behind him, then captures a photo with her since his friends would never believe he's engaging with such an attractive woman. She verifies if he's 18, and he confirms - he offers to show her his identification if she doubts him.
She declines, stating it's fine, she trusts him. She stands in the corridor but with inquisitive eyes starts inspecting the open areas of the house. She comments on the impressive dwelling, and inquires if it belongs to his parents.
The adolescent denies it, stating he doesn't reside with his parents, he's leasing it with some roommates. They're currently not at home. 'So what should I address you as?' Danny asks.
She tells him there's no need for formalities, they're here to enjoy themselves and then they'll part ways forever. They proceed into his bedroom and she nudges him towards the bed. As she starts to remove her heels, he asks if it's her first time using the dating site.
He admits that it is for him, though his friend uses the platform and ended up with a married woman! She's not wedded, is she? Vanessa admits that it's complicated. Danny expresses his concern about her husband's reaction. She assures him he's unaware of it, it's healthier for a marriage to have a few secrets.
