Uncle Charming

The scene begins with Sophie, an 18-year-old girl, appearing disinterested while leaning against a staircase railing and scrolling through her phone. 'Why must I be confined to the couch for an entire month just to accommodate this unknown uncle?' she questions with an indifferent tone. Her mother, Mrs. Kent, appears, frantically adjusting a painting, dusting a shelf, and fussing over Sophie's hair. 'Sophie, please be respectful, it's temporary until he finds work in the city. He's not a stranger, he's now part of our family.' Sophie retorts, 'Just because grandfather married a new woman who brought her own family, doesn't mean we have to interact with them.' Mrs. Kent appears shocked at Sophie's disrespect for her grandfather. A few seconds later, Mrs. Kent, from another room, asks Sophie to answer the door as she hears someone approach. Indeed, there's a knock shortly after. Sophie, groaning, puts her phone aside and opens the door. Standing there is a dapper man who resembles Sophie, with a travel bag over his shoulder. He flashes a warm smile and extends his hand for a handshake. 'Hello, I must be your new uncle. I'm Blake.' Fast forward to several days later, Blake and Sophie are relaxing in what used to be Sophie's room, now filled with some of Blake's belongings. They are seated across from each other on a sizeable bed, chatting. Blake is narrating tales of his recent cross-country hitchhiking adventures, which Sophie listens to attentively. As he describes a sexual encounter with a fellow traveler, he observes Sophie blush and struggle to maintain eye contact. He concludes his story by saying it was an unforgettable experience, then asks about Sophie's most memorable sexual encounter. Sophie, embarrassed, admits she's a virgin. Later that night, Sophie and her mother are in the kitchen discussing crushes and how to identify the right time to make a move. As Sophie provides some details about the person she's interested in, her mother grows increasingly anxious, suspecting it's Blake. Upon confirming her suspicions, Mrs. Kent becomes distressed and calls for Mr. Kent, reprimanding Sophie for making a grave error. The situation further escalates when Mr. Kent arrives and learns what's happening. Amid the argument, they question Sophie about Blake's behavior, try to persuade her to forget him, and threaten to kick Blake out. Sophie tearfully defends Blake, insisting that her feelings for him are unrequited and it was all a silly crush. Mr. Kent declares he needs to talk to Blake, despite Sophie's pleas not to. Later that night, Sophie, in her light sleepwear, is on the couch, unable to rest due to the argument upstairs. The argument ends with a door being slammed. A few moments later, the same door opens and closes quietly, followed by the sound of someone descending the stairs. Blake appears, sitting beside Sophie on the couch. They discuss the argument, and Blake emphasizes the importance of trust within their family. Sophie promises to keep their conversations confidential in the future. After a brief silence, Blake glances at Sophie's scantily-clad body, then meets her gaze with a charming smile. He suggests that her father is merely trying to protect her from potential harm. Sophie dismisses his comment, stating she can take care of herself. Blake counters, reminding her of her virginity and suggesting that losing it might help her father see her as an adult. Sophie is taken aback by his bluntness but doesn't have a good response. Blake offers to sleep with her nonchalantly, reasoning that it's better to do it with someone trustworthy. Sophie initially resists, but Blake persuades her, making it seem like he's doing her a favor by fulfilling her earlier crush on him.
